The ETFO Workplace Violence Symposium took place in Toronto on December 2, 3, 2019.  In addition to ETFO provincial and ETFO local representation, there were 46 organizations represented at the Symposium, including federal and provincial federations and unions; school boards; provincial government; workplace health and safety; children and youth mental health; and media. There were 160 registrants.

In his opening address, President Hammond spoke to the need for strategic and collaborative partnerships within and beyond the education sector to address workplace violence in our school communities.

The Symposium program provided an opportunity for diverse organizations to share expertise about violence in school communities; to take stock of progress and barriers in prevention; and to identify the key actions that are needed for our schools to be safer and healthier places to learn and to work. A summary report is being written and will be posted here in January 2020.
